Eagle Projects Guidelines
From a talk given by Chuck Weiner, GAD Advancement Chairman, April, 2001- Basic Requirements for an Eagle Project.
- The Scout should not do the project by himself.
- The project must have some permanence, must outlive the day.
- The project must be done for a non-profit organization.
- The project cannot be done on Scout property or for any part of BSA.
- The Scout must be a leader by showing the discipline to organize and manage the project.
- Tips on doing an Eagle Project.
- If the project is outside,
- See that everyone has hats.
- Provide for water, first aid kit, rest rooms.
- Have cell phone, 2-deep adult leadership.
- Take a picture of every volunteer and write each a thank you note.
- If the project is outside,
- Actual examples of successful Eagle Projects.
- Built a volleyball court for a church, 150 man hours.
- Built a chicken barn for the FFA, 550 man hours.
- Brought a playground up to safety codes.
