Leadership and Skills Training
- 21st Century Wood Badge
- Wood Badge is leadership training for all Scout Leaders who are involved in the programs of the Boy Scouts of America – Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting, and Venturing, as well as council and district leaders, and professionals. This new contemporary training program focuses on leadership and “people” skills, and not Scoutcraft or outdoor skills. Participants will learn techniques to make them better leaders, and also how to lead groups to achieve objectives. The 21st Century Wood Badge incorporates the best of nearly a century of Scouting experience in addition to drawing upon the most current leadership models used by corporate America, academic circles, and successful outdoor leadership organizations throughout the country. Skills developed from Wood Badge training will help a volunteer leader do a better job in any BSA program or at any level of involvement.
- SHAC 2006 Canoe and Kayak Training Dates
- We have some great news. Your sons are very excited about Troop 11’s canoeing program but we do need your help. We are running low on adults who have the BSA training necessary to allow us to take our scouts out on the water. If you love water sports you should seriously consider getting trained in Canoeing. It is fun and does not take a lot of your time. What we need are more trained leaders with the “Yellow Card,” the Council’s canoeing certification necessary for a troop to participate in a canoeing activity.
- Canoe Training
- BSA and Red Cross training for leaders to provide canoeing skills for high adventure trips. Flatwater and whitewater courses are conducted at Camp Strake and on the San Marcos and Guadalupe rivers.
- First Aid/CPR
- Training designed to enable leaders to meet BSA requirements for trained adults in each unit. This training is usually provided by volunteers from the American Red Cross.
